On Sisters in Law, Juanita and Rhonda did not go at it too badly on Vivian’s TV show, but they did make a few snide remarks to each other, mostly about what they knew and didn’t know about law. Their behavior didn’t sit well with Vivian on the Matriarch Under Fire episode that aired at 10 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, April 29, 2016 on WEtv.
In the next scene of Sisters In Law, Juanita had her mother over to her house and her boyfriend Waymond came over as well. He asked Juanita if she said anything about Rhonda about her attitude.
Juanita said that she was trying to leave the past in the past, and her mother agreed. Waymond said that she had to put Rhonda in her place. Juanita revealed that she was going to have a tailgate party for her son, CJ a college football player at Houston Baptist University.
Sisters In Law Tiye and Jolanda met for pedicures at Plush Nail Studio, a plush nail salon. Tiye was happy to say that she was invited to serve on the board for the NAACP. She added that maybe Vivian wasn’t on the board anymore. So it sounded as though Tiye replaced her.
But Tiye wanted to know what she should do about Rhonda’s constant shade and digs at her. Jolanda told Tiye that if a chihuahua barked at her for 20 minutes she would probably just ignore it. However, if a rottweiler barked at her for 20 minutes she could either attack it and beat it or she could attack it and lose. Either way, the rottweiler would know that either she could beat it or the rottweiler would know that she could put up a real fight and would leave her alone. Tiye took this advice in, and Jolanda was happy to have her as a protégé.
Jolanda and Juanita got together at the Lake House Waterside Café. Jolanda couldn’t wait to tell Vivian that Tiye was on the board for the NAACP, and Vivian wasn’t. Juanita didn’t like that Jolanda no longer considered Vivian a friend, and she said that it was a mistake for Jolanda to cut Vivian out of her life. Juanita feld that since Vivian was the matriarch of the group the doors that Vivian opened would close for Jolanda.
Rhonda came to talk to LaTasha Allen about her case. There was a mediator involved, and the mediator had been informed of the details of the case and of LaTasha’s injuries. Rhonda felt that the mediator would recommend a financial reward that Latasha would want to accept. Rhonda expected a resolution soon.
LaTasha started crying about the bills that she has to pay and Rhonda comforted LaTasha and told her that she knew she is a fighter, and calmed the woman down.
Juanita was preparing a client to plead guilty for failure to stop and render aid. Her client collided with a man who was crossing in the middle of the street. He was struck by Oscar’s car and killed. Oscar had just turned 18 years old. He was young, scared and he panicked during the situation. He just wanted to get home to his mother, Juanita said, but he violated Texas law and could possibly go to prison. He wasn’t speeding, and drugs and alcohol were not involved.
Juanita was hoping for probation, but the judge ordered a sentencing hearing, so they had to come back another day. Juanita was worried, because the mother of the slain son had another son killed in an auto accident a couple of years before.
Next, there was Jolanda’s case, involving Charley White, a woman who was accused of heroine possession.
Ironically, her friend had died a week before of a heroine overdose. The police’s lab report showed that there wasn’t enough of the drug in Charley’s possession to weigh. Jolanda talked to the DA’s office, and convinced them that they wouldn’t be able to prove their case. The DA’s office agreed to drop the charges if Charley attended two Narcotics Anonymous meetings and brought proof that that she had done so.
Juanita stopped Vivian in the hall of the courthouse. “I saw Jolanda a little while ago. She had to convey something what’s going on… Then Juanita went on to explain that Jolanda had a spa day with Tiye and that Tiye got voted on the board.
“I’m on the board of the NAACP,” Vivian said.
“Okay well check on it, cause the rumor is, you’re not,” Juanita replied.
Vivian went to Tiye’s law office to ask her why she didn’t tell her that she was going to be on the NAACP board. Vivian explained away the fact that she would not be serving on the NAACP board, because of her other commitments.
Tiye said that she didn’t talk about the situation in a negative way. It’s not in her, but she was happy about her appointment. Vivian was okay with what Tiye had to say, and they hugged it out. Vivian said that Jolanda was trying to turn Tiye against her. Tiye thought that Vivian just wanted to be her friend.
At Houston Baptist University, Juanita was prepared to have her tailgate party for her 19-year-old son. All of the women were invited, including Rhonda. Tiye said that she was nervous about seeing Rhonda. Tiye said that she didn’t like Rhonda’s snide comments and digs. “I’m not looking forward to seeing Rhonda at all. I think I need to say a little prayer beforehand like Lord please keep the bad spirits away. Let’s make this a nice pleasant event,” she said.
Tiye’s prayers were not answered that day, because as she discussed an intellectual property case that she was having trouble with Rhonda started in on her, saying that it all sounded so boring. Tiye defended herself by saying that Rhonda wasn’t an intellect, and she shaded her on her age.
Rhonda and Tiye went at it, and Rhonda was asked to leave. Vivian said that Rhonda is a Primadonna and she needed to be reigned in. ”
Vivian met Rhonda at Macaron, a macaron and tea shop, and tried to talk some sense into her. She wanted help Rhonda and Juanita settle the differences between them.
But Rhonda had something else in mind. She wanted to get away. She wanted to go to their beach house on Pirate’s Beach that weekend. On the guest list would be, Vivian, Monique and Jolanda.
Vivian realized that Rhonda was too angry with Juanita to resolve anything. “If I never saw Juanita’s face again, it would be too soon,” Rhonda said.
