‘Hell’s Kitchen’ Five Chefs Are Left to Compete in Season 15

Contestants on Hell’s Kitchen began the episode that aired at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on April 15, 2016. The Chefs, now with black jackets, included:

Jared Bobkin
Manda Palomino
Kristin Barone
Ashley Nickell
Ariel Malone

The Chefs were tasked to create meals for 100 high school seniors. Each chef was surprised with a huge picture from his/her high school days, shared in front of a school of high school students (including the band, athletes, and cheerleaders).

The chefs got to work on their creations in an open grassy area near the school. Here’s what they prepared:
Ariel made steak. “They like simple food, that’s straight-forward with great flavors,” she said.

Ashley made chicken pot pie. “Everyone likes chicken pot pie. It’s something that I ate when I was in high school.”

Manda created tacos. “I got this,” she said confidently.

Kristin went for buttermilk fried chicken and a salad. She revealed that she got kicked out of two high schools and ditched high school all of the time. She was the rebel, the bad girl in her youth.

Jared prepared a New York strip steak for the teens.

The teens voted and ranked the dishes as follows:

Jared, first place
Ariel, second place
Ashley, third place
Kristin, fourth place
Manda, fifth place

Since Jared won, he was able to choose another chef to accompany him to San Francisco to claim his prize, a day at Levi’s Stadium where they were two meet 49ers. Jared chose Kristin to go with him, which angered Ashley, his close friend on Hell’s Kitchen. Jared wanted to learn more about the other chefs. He felt that he had spent a lot of time with Ashley and needed to know more about his other competitors.

While Jared and Kristin hung out at Levi’s stadium,  the other chefs had to separate trash from dumpsters. “I don’t like football, and I don’t like Jared very much. I don’t like trash either,” Manda said.

 

That evening for dinner, each chef had the chance to be a sous chef for Gordon Ramsey. Some of the chefs did better than others. Ariel had no complaints from Ramsey. She said that she likes pressure.

There were complaints about Jared, though, and Chef Ramsey called the group to the back room and told them to get it together. Eventually, Ramsey asked the chefs to apologize to the last table of guests and he prepared their meal.

Ramsey asked the chefs to point out the worst performer and Kristin named Jared. It did not bother her that he had just invited her on his trip San Francisco. She said that he failed in the fish station and that he had “mentally checked out.” Ramsey dismissed him, but then he also called Manda forward and asked her to take off her jacket.

Manda and Jared were eliminated. The remaining chefs are Ariel Malone, Ashley Nickell, and Kristin Barone.
