MSC Cruises Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago signed a 100-year agreement with Prime Minister Perry Christie for the cruise company to develop the island over the next two years. The development will be called the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. The island was once used as a facility for sand extraction. Once the project has been completed, the island will become a natural part of the local ecosystem.
Ocean Cay will provide a beach getaway for MSC cruise passengers. High-quality beaches and Caribbean-inspired entertainment and educational experiences are planned for Ocean Cay MSC. MSC Cruises prides itself in its efforts in protecting the environment. The family that owns the company will spend $200 million to transform the sand-filled island into a lush island destination. The goal is to create a viable tourist attraction.
Six beaches, a 2,000-seat amphitheater, bars and restaurants are planned for the island. Passengers will be able to move freely from their ship to the island. MSC Yacht Club members will be treated to a spa and wellness retreat with private villas and massage huts.
MSC Cruises is based in Geneva and is the top cruise line in Europe. South America, and South Africa.
Marine construction in the Bahamas, would a great way to have an gorgeous getaway. I love how you mentioned that the protecting environment can create an excellent educational experience of the ocean. Having a few places to eat at on the island would definitely the marine reserve a fun vacation spot.
