Although by late October, many of the top fall destinations have passed the peak for fall colors, there are still beautiful leaves in many of the destinations that are popular for fall foliage walks and drives. Winter weather is predicted for some of the areas this weekend, but several of the destinations have staff who are posting inclement weather updates and fall color updates on social media.
The Blue Ridge Parkway
The Foliage Network reported that the Appalachian Mountains are the place to go if you want to see gorgeous fall colors and fall foliage. Appalachian State University’s Department of Biology recommends that travelers take the Blue Ridge Parkway and keep a lookout for foliage in the area near Route near U.S. 421
Shenandoah Park, Virginia
Dark Hollow Falls is a scenic area in Shenandoah Park in Luray, Virginia. The trail is one of the most popular, and with this waterfall you are treated to an amazing cascade.

Birch Pond in Massachusetts
Massachusetts is simply bursting with a wide array of fall colors. Just about every area of the state has impressive fall foliage. The Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism’s Twitter feed currently, themed for autumn, contains frequent updates of the fall scenery. According to an article in Mashable, the state will earn over $3 million in tourism dollars from more than 8 billion fall travelers who hope to surround themselves in the fall color. Vermont is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the fall.
Silver Lake Falls, California
Silver Lake Falls, in the Eastern area of California lights up the region with spectacular golden leaves on area trees. Several of the regions are past their peak by the first week of November, depending on the seasonal weather, but Mono County Fall Colors reports that there were golden leaves on the trail from Upper Twin Lakes leading to Barney Lake. Rhode Island
Rhode Island’s colorful season lures tourists to heavily wooded areas as well as parks like Goddard Memorial State Park, which offers picnic areas and plenty trees for leaf peepers. Visit Rhode Island’s CVB Twitter stream to see where the color is located.
Gatlinburg, TN
Gatlinburg, Tennessee , the Great Smoky Mountains, still awash with autumn colors. Most people think that the fall colors fade in the middle of October, however, the National Park Service and the Gatlinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau are keeping people up to date on where the fall colors are.

For late fall color, the North East Kingdom is a good place to visit the state of Vermont. The NEK has some of the most beautiful foliage with amazing colors.
