Meeting at Starbucks is great (if you don’t mind a little noise and the cramped tables) but now mobile workers can rent a real space to work with Marriott Hotels. To serve the growing number of mobile workers, who work in their cars, cafes, and everywhere else, Marriott is now renting office space in its hotels. The Workspace on Demand service allows these workers to reserve space to meet or work in a similar fashion to booking a hotel room.
On the amazing Workspace on Demand site, mobile workers need to only select their state to be directed to a participating hotel. Marriott provides information related to the venue, including whether catering, filtered water, power strips, Wi-Fi (which might be fee-based, depending on the venue) or conference phones are available. Some of the hotels, of course, have on-site restaurants. Mobile workers, small business owners, or people who simply need meeting space or office space can rent boardrooms with a whiteboard, a caulk board, and appropriate lighting, as well.

At this point, the meeting space is restricted to about 30 locations: Renaissance Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts and Courtyard by Marriott hotels. Roving workers can use their phones to reserve meeting space, too. A Liquid Space app helps workers find the rooms they need. They’ll see a picture of the space, read the specs and book.
